Talentino: Our students showcased their talents and team spirit. They displayed their creativity and talent through music, dance, and art.

Parent-Teacher Meeting: We engaged with parents and guardians to discuss student progress and feedback.

Bharatha Naatiyam Curriculum:

Dance form: BHARATHANATYAM (Classical)

Class Duration: 1hour per week

Students age group: 5yrs to 11yrs (1st std - 5th std)

BASIC LEVEL 1

(Fundamental study of the basic bharathanatyam dance techniques)

1. Basic steps (Adavus)

Thattadavu (1 to 6), Nattadavu (1,2,5,7), Paraval adavu (1), Kuthithu mettu adavu (1,3),   kattadavu, natukattadavu, Egaru Mettadavu

 2. Dances:

Along with basic steps students also learned dances (based on their age and level) choreographed on Shlokas and devotional songs.

Learnt slokas/songs:

* Mooshika vahana sloka

* Saraswathi namasthupyam sloka

* Ankikam sloka

* Pushpanjali - 1st to 5th std

* Vishamakara kannan - 3rd to 5th

3. Abhinaya(expressions):      Different types of facial expressions are taught which are required for the learnt dances.

Learnt expressions: baya(fear), karuna (compassion),  hasya (joy), raudra (angry), veera (brave), adbhuta (wonder), shantha (peace)

4. Theory:

Single hand gestures(asamyutha hastha) - Pathakam to Chandrakala  

Double hand gestures (samyutha hastha) - Anjali to Sivalingam

Students will usually have finished this level at their first 6 months of training(32 hours) but our students finished it realtively earlier in 24 hours from june '24 to Februray '25 based on their own speed, age, learning ability, class attendance and with regular practice.

Along with recalling level 1, some of the students entered into level 2 training and they have progressed in learning half of the curriculum.

BASIC LEVEL 2:

1. Dance steps(adavus):

Pakka adavu, pani/jaru adavu, kudith adavu, thirmana adavu/mukthaya adavu, rangakramana, uthplavan and other adavus.

2. Theory:

head(shiro beda)

eyes(drushti beda)

neck (griva veda)

eyebrow's (bru beda) movements.

3. Dances:

Along with basic steps students also learnt dances (based on their age and level) choreographed on devotional keerthanas,and  kruthis.

Learnt songs:

* Jaya janarthana (kolattam)

* Pachaima malaipol meni

* Meenakshi Thaaye

For programmes and other events students are taught songs regarded for the next level (JUNIOR LEVEL) 

Songs Learnt:

* Pushpanjali

* Kauthuvam - natesha kowthuvam (performed in Talent Eno)

* Since the art form was entangled in cultural, devotional, behavioural aspects students are taught several devotional stories based on the songs taught to them (connection to lyrics is necessary to dance in sync with the songs).

* Since discipline is required in learning an art, students were taught to come to class in punctuality and in doing occasional leaderships during class.

* Dancer's physique plays a vital role in maintaining stamina during a stretch 1 hr training without break to students were trained to some stretchings, a minute long scultptous postures (positions in bharathanatyam), breathing exercises, pair dancing, segmental dancing and many other foot works during the course of training.
